The 'Au Haz'art des Rues' festival was created in 2005 on the initiative of BTS Communication in Saint-Romain-en-Gal, in collaboration with the 'Root's Arts' association. The purpose of this open, free event is to present and share the various components of street performance culture, as well as a wide range of artistic endeavours, with the residents of Vienne and the surrounding areas.

At the next festival, theatre, music, dance, graffiti, street art, storytelling, slam (urban poetry), batucada (musical stroll), improvisation, associative village, beat box (mouth music), painting and sculpture exhibits, and circus and fire arts will all hit the streets of Vienne.

This will turn the town into a theatre for cultural and family-oriented events where the spectators join in seeing the arts from a new perspective and where more than 160 performers, both professional and amateur, are expected. The creation of this project was supported by Scène Rhône-Alpes 'Quelques p'Arts', SOAR » (Secteur Ouvert des Arts de Rue) in Boulieu-lès-Annonay, and the Locomysic association in Vienne. The festival takes place on Saturday 28 April 2007, and access is open to all.
