The 'Musée des Beaux Arts' is located right in the middle of Place de Miremont: the only historic square in Vienne, created thanks to a considered urbanism plan. This square was made possible by the reservation of lands, vines, and buildings belonging to the archdiocese when ecclesiastical assets were sold off under the Revolution. It was created early in the 19th century. Thanks to this, the town finally opened up its mediaeval walls and started growing towards the south. More details

This church, originally dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul, was built in the late 5th century in a cemetery occupying the ruins of a residential district within the Gallo-Roman ramparts. It is one of the oldest churches in France. It was used as a funeral basilica, and until the 12th century it housed the tombs of most of the bishops of Vienne, such as Mamert, its likely founder, who died around 475. In the 6th century, a first community of monks settled there, including the hermit Léonien who is thought to have been the abbot. More details

Le parcours muséographique s’organise autour des deux thèmes qui mettent en valeur les aspects socio-économiques et techniques de l’industrie textile viennois : les différents aspects de la vie ouvrière et le cycle de fabrication des tissus.
